As software products scale, so does the complexity in the tooling to maintain them.
I wonder if with AI, future growth hasn’t accounted for this fact. Yes, anyone can slop out an app in a day now. But maintaining and growing an app? Now you need to develop internal tools (or integrate with paid ones) for your custom CMS, your shared frameworks, your design integrations, your feature flags.
It’s why Google, Meta, and now Anthropic don’t use Git. They’ve outgrown it.
At some scale, you have to reinvent your entire tech stack from the ground up. Is a single-person billion dollar company going to be able to achieve that goal?
